An asset's details

The asset details page shows everything about a single asset — its information, who currently holds it, its full history, maintenance records, documents, and an activity timeline. It's also where you assign, return, and maintain the asset.

  1. Asset Management — Open the Asset Management group in the menu.

  2. All Assets — Then choose All Assets.

  3. View — Find the asset and click the view (eye) action.

  4. Actions — Use the buttons at the top right — Edit, Assign Asset (when available) or Return Asset (when assigned), Add Maintenance, Delete.

Steps

  1. In the left menu, open Asset Management → All Assets.
  2. Find the asset and click the view (eye) action on its row.
  3. Review the sections on the page (described below).
  4. Use the buttons at the top right to act on the asset, if you have permission:
    • Edit — change the asset's details.
    • Assign Asset — hand the asset to an employee (shown when the asset is Available). See Assigning an asset.
    • Return Asset — record the asset coming back (shown when the asset is Assigned). See Returning an asset.
    • Add Maintenance — log a maintenance event. See Asset maintenance.
    • Delete — permanently remove the asset.

What you'll see

  • Asset Details — the asset's status and condition badges, plus Category, Serial Number, Brand, Model, Purchase Date, Purchase Price, Warranty Expiry, Asset Tag, and Notes.
  • Current Assignment — the employee who currently holds the asset and since when, or Unassigned.
  • Accessories — items linked to the asset, with each accessory's name, condition, serial number, and notes.
  • Assignment History — every past and present assignment, showing the employee, status, the dates assigned and returned, the condition out and condition in, and any notes.
  • Maintenance History — each maintenance record, with the date performed, type, description, cost, vendor, next due date, who logged it, and notes. See Asset maintenance.
  • Documents — files attached to the asset, such as invoices, warranties, and manuals. See Asset documents.
  • Activity Timeline — a dated feed of everything that has happened to the asset: assignments, returns, status changes, maintenance, document uploads, accessory changes, and approval steps.

Tips

  • The action buttons that appear depend on both the asset's current status and your permissions.
  • The Edit button opens the same edit panel used on the All Assets screen.

Troubleshooting

  • The page doesn't load — go back to Asset Management → All Assets and open the asset again; it may have been deleted.
