Localisation settings

The Localisation tab on the Settings screen sets the currency, timezone, date and time formats, distance unit and dialling code that the whole of Open Core HR reads. Open Settings from the gear icon in the top bar, then choose the Localisation tab.

1. Settings — Click the Settings gear at the top right of the page.

Open Core HR ships without a country built in, so these are the values every screen, report, letter and export uses. Set them once when you first install.

What you can set

Currency

• Currency Code — the three-letter ISO 4217 code, for example AED, SAR, INR or USD.
• Currency Symbol — the symbol shown in front of amounts. A preview underneath shows a sample amount as it will appear.

Time

• Timezone — attendance timestamps, report boundaries and scheduled jobs are all read in this zone.
• Date Format, Time Format, Date & Time Format — written as PHP date tokens (for example d-m-Y and h:i A). Each field shows a live preview of a sample date so you can check the format before saving.

Other

• Distance Unit — kilometres or miles. Mileage claims store a plain number; this setting is what that number means. Changing it relabels existing claims rather than converting them, so pick it before people start claiming.
• Dialling Code — shown alongside phone fields, for example +971. Leave it blank to hide it.

Steps

1. Open Settings from the gear icon in the top bar.
2. Choose the Localisation tab on the left.
3. Update the fields you need, checking the preview under each one.
4. Click Save Changes.

Tips

• The previews update as you type, so you can try a date format and see the result before saving.
• Currency and distance are read everywhere — expense claims, reports, exports and generated letters — so a change here is visible across the whole system straight away.
