Policy categories

Categories group your HR policies — for example "Code of Conduct", "Leave", "IT & Security". Every policy belongs to one category. Open this screen from HR Policies > Categories in the left menu.

  1. HR Policies — Open the HR Policies group in the menu.
  2. Categories — Then choose Categories.

Steps

  1. In the left menu, choose HR Policies > Categories.
  2. Use the Search categories... box to find a category by name or description.
  3. To add a category, click Add Category.
  4. To change one, click the pencil icon in the Actions column. To remove one, click the trash icon.

Adding or editing a category

In the Add Category / Edit Category panel that slides in from the right:

  • Name — the category name (required).
  • Description — an optional note about what the category covers.
  • Color — pick a colour; it's used for the category badge throughout HR Policies.
  • Icon — an optional icon name.
  • Sort Order — a number controlling where the category appears in lists (lower numbers first).

Click Create (or Update) to save.

What you'll see

The categories table has these columns:

  • Color — a coloured dot for the category.
  • Name — the category name.
  • Description — a short description (trimmed if long).
  • Policies — how many policies are in this category.
  • Sort Order — the ordering number.
  • Actions — edit or delete the category.

Troubleshooting

  • Can't delete a category — categories that still have policies in them can't be deleted. Move or remove those policies first, then delete the category.
