Looking up an employee's work-account details

You can see an employee's Microsoft 365 sign-in email and their initial password on their profile — useful when you need to pass first-login details to a new joiner.

  1. Employees — Open the Employees group in the menu.
  2. Active — Then choose Active.

Your account needs administrator access (the permission to edit employees) to view the password.

Steps

  1. Open the employee's profile.
  2. Select the Microsoft 365 tab. (This tab only appears for employees who have a Microsoft 365 account.)
  3. The top of the tab shows:
    • Sign-in Email (UPN) — the work email address the employee uses to sign in.
    • Provisioned On — when their Microsoft 365 account was created.
  4. Under Password Management, select View Initial Password to reveal the stored initial password. Use Show / Hide to reveal it and Copy to copy it.

What you'll see

  • The employee's UPN also appears as an M365 badge near their name at the top of the profile.
  • If no initial password is stored (for example it was never recorded), use Reset Password to generate a new one to share — see Resetting an employee's Microsoft 365 password.
