Employees without a linked account

The Unlinked tab on the Microsoft 365 screen lists active employees who don't have a Microsoft 365 account linked yet.

  1. Microsoft 365 — Open Microsoft 365 from the menu.

Your account needs administrator access to open this screen.

Steps

  1. Open Microsoft 365 from the menu.
  2. Select the Unlinked tab. The heading shows how many unlinked employees there are.
  3. The table — Unlinked Employees, "Active employees without a linked Microsoft 365 account" — lists each one with their Employee, Email, Department, and Designation. If everyone is linked, you'll see "All employees are linked" instead.

How an account gets linked

This screen shows the list only — it doesn't have a button to link or create an account. A Microsoft 365 account is created automatically when:

  • you add the employee while company-wide auto-provisioning is turned on, or
  • the employee is moved back to Active (or Onboarding) and auto-provisioning is on.

So if an employee appears here unexpectedly, check that auto-provisioning is enabled (shown on the configuration bar at the top of the Microsoft 365 screen) and that the employee has an email address.
